The History
Half-way between Sorrento and Massa Lubrense, on the amazing Sorrento Peninsula, in a unique position between the hills and the sea with the islands of Capri and Ischia in the distance, lies the splendid Villa Turro. An ancient fortified farm, Villa Turro dates back to the eighteenth century and still preserves today architectural features of its riveting past.
The typical pattern of the ancient fortified farms is marked by a great gateway and a sturdy door, a large courtyard, embrasures, watchtowers, stables and chapels are all clearly visible.
A majestic gate with a watchtower opens onto the beautiful and spacious courtyard, to which every room of the villa has access and which features a beautiful outside staircase leading to the upper floor.
One of the three bedrooms, located on the ground floor of the villa, is characterized by the unmistakable traces of the ancient chapel and opens onto the garden and swimming pool. This bedroom was, in fact, built on the ruin of the ancient chapel: a small circular rose window and a fireplace, built in place of the ancient altar remain as monuments to the villa's religious past. The top floor of Villa Turro hosts a large living room featuring an original vaulted ceiling 7 meters high. The whole villa is surrounded by many outdoor spaces with land extending to about 6,000 square meters.
The Villa
The Villa is 5 km. from the sea and enjoys an extremely panoramic position orientated towards the sea and the Sorrento coast. It has a living surface of about 600 square meters and is on two levels. The ground floor consists of 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms, a small living room and 2 kitchens. All the rooms open onto the courtyard situated in front of the villa. The upper floor has a huge and bright living room, a further 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms, 2 terraces, one of which gives access to the watchtower. A panoramic terrace completes the top floor of the property.
Externally there is a 6,000 square meters garden with swimming pool, 6 outside parking car places and a courtyard with an outdoor dining area. The property also has 2 annexes with a small service bathroom close to the pool.
