FuroreThe village of Furore in the mountains and its marina in the valley below are two faces of a small village with only a few hundred inhabitants who live in this oasis of peace and tranqullity. The population now lives in the higher part of the village, overlooking the sea which at times seems to be far away in the distance, while at others near enough to reach out and touch. The houses have been built in between olive groves and vineyards, with the grapes being used to produced a highly acclaimed wine. The beauty of the higher part depicted on the walls. It is known as "the painted village", with every wall being a work of art, every turn of a corner revealing a small masterpiece. However, the murals of Furore, originally painted starting in 1980 by various foreign and Italian artists, are not the only patrimony of this village. There are several old churches including the one dedicated to Sant'Elia which houses a triptych dating back to the 1400s by Angelo Antonelli de Capua, one the most important paintings on the entire Amalfi Coast. Another important location of Furore is the "Fiordo" a beach situated in a deep crack in the rocks about 25 metres long and quite wide, while the water is generally very clean. The Furore baeach is also famous for the one competition that occurse once a year. (A small platform is put up on the bridge which over the past few years has been used for the international high diving competition hald in the month of July).
